Also Kuma said to Luffy that they would never meet again because the Govt will screw up Kuma. Kuma just helped straw hat crew to escape brutal death/punishment. Kuma was just trying to help them and Govt will screw up Kuma for helping them escape

Re-watching this heartbreaking scene ahhh PAIN. I really love how instead of getting any unnecessary power-ups, "power of friendship", or basically any plot armor like most shonen protagonists gets, Luffy realizes how weak he really was. They showed us what it feels like to lose, to be powerless and helpless.
